I’m Gitty. My birth certificate says New York,
but Jerusalem claimed me as her own since I made aliyah at 9 years old.
I’m grateful to live here:
A land of so much emotion and meaning. A land with ancient history cloaking its streets and alleyways.A land of love and legend and the richness of life. A land… but so much more. To me, and to us all, Israel is home.
Playing with color
I began my art journey as a little girl in the States coloring in my mom’s huge drawings. When I moved to Israel, I learned from local artists and Russian immigrants who were art instructors in Moscow academies. I was naturally drawn to paintings of Israel and her themes, topics that have always played such pivotal roles in our nation’s story and my own life.
Growing beyond Jerusalem
I taught art in the Israeli Ministry of Arts and Culture for 30 years. Just before Covid-19 hit, I began selling my art online. Since then, my paintings have been displayed in galleries across the world and in private and corporate collections throughout Israel, the US, Europe, Canada, Brazil, and Australia.
Sharing my world
I love how people connect to my art, saying it evokes deep emotions every time anew. With my use of color, texture and movement you will find something different speaking to your heart every day. It’s most gratifying when clients tell me that my art is like a therapy session on the wall — releasing stress and allowing them to relax — inviting them in to see the world from my viewpoint in stunning swirls of light and color.
I love how brushes, metal palette knives, sponges, water, and rags work together to create something bigger than what I imagine. The uplifting experience that comes out of my creative chaos astonishes me every time anew.
I use so many different techniques in my paintings, and love them all. Like a mother and her children!
It’s amazing how the contrasts blend and complement the whole.
I love how the Jerusalem sunlight shines in, adding natural beauty to whatever scene I’m in the middle of…
I always have so much going on in my studio. I don’t think I can ever have one that’s big enough!
My motto: Texture as a melody finds its way into the heart!
You’ll never guess that some of the details are created with seven layers but you will feel it!
I want that when you step in close to see the details you will be able to capture every stroke, every layer, every splash. Step back and see it all come together. A visually stunning image made with heart and love.
If I could express it in words, there would be no painting.
The gold I use in my arts makes just walking by the painting an immersive experience. The changing of the gold as it is reflected by the light draws you in to be a part of the art.
In life we experience miracles all the time, we just have to pause, notice and be thankful. And then put the feelings onto canvas …
